What next for Conor McGregor?

The five fights Dana White should make for him…

Following the 32-year-old’s defeat to Dustin Poirier, many have raised questions around the future of the mega-rich superstar in the world of MMA.
Rightfully so, it’s easy to question a man after a horrible loss in a match that he had a chance of winning.

However, if we are to go with what he has said on many occasions leading to UFC 257, we have a motivated and dedicated McGregor who at the very least would love to be active in 2021.
He currently has a four-fight deal with the UFC and he has been on record stating his desire to get to these fights as soon as possible.

With that in mind, here is a look at the fights I believe Dana White must make for Conor MacGregor.

1. Max Holloway
Following an impressive performance in which records were smashed for significant strikes as he stormed past Calvin Kattar in a masterclass. This would be another rematch for McGregor who defeated Holloway in 2013, Max’s masterclass, and McGregor’s appeal would make this a must-see event. A fight between these two strikers would be a strikers’ paradise.

2. Nate Diaz 3
You have to give it to Nate Diaz. He hasn’t fought in a year or so and yet both Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier made mention of him as a potential opponent. The trilogy with McGregor would be an intriguing battle.

3. Jorge Masvidal for BMF
Conor McGregor seems to be the type of fight Jorge Masvidal is looking for right? The big paycheck that comes with being enclosed in a cage with the Irish man is not a secret. And if we are to read anything into Masvidal’s recent comments and stance on the different options put before him. Money moves everything around him.
Both fighters have mentioned one another as potential matchups and I think the allure of BMF belt may interest McGregor.

4. Tony Ferguson
Both fighters have lost their last fight and they have the unenviable task of trying to get back in the mix for a future Lightweight title bout. They are now outside the top four tournaments that will exist between Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveria, and Michael Chandler.
A match between the guys on the outside looking in could provide a statement win for the winner.

5. Dan Hooker
Dan Hooker like Ferguson has lost his last two fights. And he would relish a bounce back bout against McGregor and this fight makes sense for all the reasons the Ferguson fight makes sense.

There are fights available for McGregor if he wants to take them, he admitted that the time between his bouts has affected him. So there are no short cuts to getting back to the top.
