As we all countdown to the Rugby World Cup, which is 110 days away, we can take solace in the international clashes being churned out by the world’s top teams as they prepare for the event.
The schedule for the Men’s and Women’s World Rugby Seven Series has been released. The season will hold more significance than other seasons as 2020 is the year rugby sevens returns to the Olympics. The past season broke all kinds of viewership records for the game and the organisers and participants will be under pressure to deliver. World Rugby has also increased the number of women’s and combined events this season.
Women’s champions New Zealand will be looking to retain their title while the second-placed USA will be looking to do one better. Men’s champions Fiji know that they have a huge task at hand to repeat last season’s feat as they know New Zealand, South Africa and last year’s runners up, USA, will all be out to dethrone them.
I am excited about the season that starts in October for the women and then December for the men.
